The Amazon Builders' Library: 25 yrs of Amazon operational excellence
▶ talk
This talk is co-presented with Colm MacCárthaigh. Colm talks about incident response and making backwards compatible changes, and I talk about deployment and infrastructure change safety.
I'm always impressed by Colm's presentation style, how he talks as though he's riffing on a topic for a while even though he has planned out how to frame it. Whereas I click through an animation or slide every few seconds.
It turned out there were several former Amazon folks in the audience for this who were involved in some of the stories I was talking about, like the web rendering framework that couldn't link anymore. The person who performed the last bit of life support to get it linking was in the audience! I asked him afterward, nervously, if I got the story right and he said I did!
