Amazon Builders' Library: Operational Excellence at Amazon

It's easy to chase technology solutions to solve a cultural problem. At AWS we obsess over ops every week as a whole company, and invest continuously in continuous improvement.

My perspective on ops culture was shaped heavily by John Rauser, who gave this 2010 talk Creating Cultural Change, which coincidentally uses an example of me affecting cultural change of coffee brewing. Hmm, in this re:Invent talk I also use coffee brewing to talk about root cause analysis. I guess there's a theme here.

This is a pretty timeless talk. I find that these approaches (and challenges) come up a lot when I talk with customers on how they can transform their own operational culture.
